    Hello,

A bit off topic of this post but I find that sugar causes my SD. Not sure if what I have is SD but the symptoms sound the same. I find if I don’t eat sugar for a week then the red, itchy, flakey skin clears up. But other foods seem to cause it aswell, I think possibly beer and wine, spirits don’t seem to cause a reaction though. I use a gel by Witch Doctor which is Liquid Extract of witch hazel and it helps sooth and clear it up within a week or so.

It would be great to know if you come up with a cure! Hopefully you can get the forum up and running again as this is the first time i’ve seen this site!

    Hi Jimmy,

I’ve heard a lot of folks say that sugar affects their SD negatively. I’m in the process of trying to eat healthier, (not just for SD, but overall health). I haven’t completely cut out sugars, but I’ve cut way back. I can’t say my SD has gotten much better…but perhaps a little?

Never heard of the Witch Doctor product that you mentioned? I’ll have to look that up.

Don’t know that “I” will ever come up with a cure, but I think there are people out there that have pretty much cured their own SD and I hope that they come here and share their knowledge with everyone else.

    Best of luck to you!

    Hi,
I have never ‘posted’, if in fact that is what I am doing, so please bear with me. I am just searching for some help. I THINK that I have Seb Derm ( that is what 2 docs said) but all I see is a pink scalp, no scales or anything like that & I have to REALLY scratch my scalp hard to raise up any dandruff. It just itches so much & I have lost 2/3 of my beautiful curly hair. I am sometimes so despondent I scare myself. I just wanted to talk to someone & see if anyone might have an idea. I do not trust the medical community. One doctor said ” oh stop itching, you’re making me itch” HOW COMPASSIONATE.
Well anyway, if you get the time, let me know how to talk to you people. I don’t even know if I did this right.

    Hi Karen,

    Don’t worry…you posted just fine!
I think you will find some compassionate people here that are willing to offer advice. Just knowing there is someone to talk to, helps.
No scales…hmmm? Well I would hope that between two doctors, they managed to get your diagnosis correct. Thats about all we can go on at this point.
So have you tried any products on your scalp? If so, which ones? Seb derm can be a booger to treat sometimes. And sometimes, it’s just a matter finding the right product/home remedy or combination of products & remedies. Some people see improvements with a change in diet, (cutting out sugar, caffeine, etc). Most people agree that stress seems to have a negative effect on your skin. I’m not saying that removing stress would totally clear your skin, but might help it to improve.
Feel free to share any information you would like to about yourself and perhaps we can help in some way.
Most importantly…hang in there because you will find “something” that helps your condition. Solutions don’t always come quick or easy, but if you’re persistent, you’ll find the answer.
    Stay in touch!
    Chris
